On January 21st, 2025 a 6-year-old girl choked on a piece of meat from Pho soup causing a partial airway obstruction. First aid was followed. LifeVac removed the obstruction on the first application!
The child’s mother described the incident as follows:
“My daughter was eating Pho noodle soup that had different meats. I usually cut up all the meats so they aren’t so chewy but there was one piece of fatty brisket that she slurped with the soup and it got stuck. I didn’t know that until we got it out with the LifeVac. It was long and stringy and she didn’t have enough food to push it all down when she slurped the soup. She panicked and was crying and we did numerous back blows and abdominal thrusts with no result. We couldn’t see anything visibly there. My husband ran to get the LifeVac and I placed her on the ground on her back and with one pull I was able to get it up. I asked if she was okay and she nodded yes and she looked so relieved. She pointed in her mouth and I finally saw the meat on her tongue/in the back of her throat and was able to pull up the rest of it. The string of meat was about 5” long because the fat had separated from the regular meat to form a longer string. LifeVac is a miracle product and I’ll tell everyone about it! 🙂 I bought it when she was a toddler for peace of mind and now, I know first-hand how wonderful it is. I just told all my co-workers about what happened and they plan to buy it for their family members with young kids ASAP. I even reached out to her school and they said they planned to buy some last year for their academy but now they’re definitely going to reach out to the head nurse for follow-up. 🙂 Thank you for all you do and for the whole company and product!!”
