The child’s mother described the incident as follows:

“My baby was eating like usual when all of a sudden he started coughing which turned into vomit. This happened very suddenly within less than one minute. I had fed him a small piece of potato which unfortunately he did not chew but instead swallowed whole. My baby then could not breathe so his body automatically knew to vomit and he did so twice, both times the piece of potato did not come out. My husband immediately got the LifeVac out since we’ve always kept it next to his food items. He had read the instructions on how to use it so he was very quick in using this device on my baby. 15 seconds of using this device the piece of potato was dislodged. After that my baby was pretty distraught but safe because of LifeVac. He knew something had been wrong but felt comfort again. I am so very thankful my husband acted fast, but even more for this genius invention. It was given to me by my aunt who is a medical director/nurse while I was still pregnant and she said “you will need this.” This is the best gift I have received for my baby, this is truly an irreplaceable item that every new mom should have in their registry. At first I really wasn’t sure how or even when I would ever use this, I am very careful with everything that I do with my baby. But I can truly say without this device I’m not sure if my baby would be safe today. It all happened very fast and when that moment comes every second counts. I will forever be grateful for such a device that saved my baby from suffocation or worse. The inventor of it deserves every single penny and success for his invention that should be in every home with a small baby. I am never leaving this out of reach and definitely recommend to anyone having kids or just simply needing assistance with eating.”
